Scholarship Program

The Omaha Home for Boys mission statement of “Strengthening Youth and Families” means making sure our young people have the skills, training and education necessary to lead full and productive lives. For many of our young people, attending a trade school, community college, or a four-year college becomes part of their career path.

To support our students, and give them every opportunity for success, the Omaha Home for Boys provides access to a Scholarship Coordinator, who has extensive experience working with college students. The Scholarship Coordinator is available to eligible students before and during their post-secondary education. Some areas that the Scholarship Coordinator can assist students with are:

  • College/Major Selection
  • Applying for Federal/State Financial Aid
  • Applying for Outside Scholarships
  • Educational Planning
  • Problem Solving

In addition to on-going support, the Omaha Home for Boys provides limited scholarship support to eligible students. The Home’s Scholarship program is open to any boy (current or past resident) who is under the age of 24 and has successfully completed the Home’s Residential Care Program. Additionally, young adults who have successfully completed the Jacobs’ Place Independent Living Program and have successfully maintained independence for a period of 12 months.

Scholarship fund:

  • Partial tuition is funded for standard undergraduate academic programs at public schools.
  • The costs of books, supplies and fees are eligible for scholarship funding. Trade schools and apprenticeship programs requiring tools are also included in the scholarship program.
  • Scholarship amounts per academic year range from $250 to $1000, depending upon availability of funds.
  • Scholarship amounts are based on performance (GPA), number of credits completed, and the individual needs of the student.

All scholarships are privately funded through the generosity of caring donors. The Home is currently establishing a Scholarship Endowment Fund to guarantee future scholarship funding.
