Scholarship Program
The Omaha Home for Boys mission statement of “Strengthening Youth and Families” means making sure our youth have the skills, training and education necessary to lead full and productive lives. For many of our youth, attending a four-year college, a community college or trade school becomes part of their career plan.
To support our young adults and make them every opportunity for success, the Omaha Home for Boys Scholarship Coordinator meets with each student before he/she submits a college application. The academic strengths and weaknesses are assessed, as well as the need for supplementary tutoring. Students are encouraged to attend Community Colleges for the first year or two to ease the transition into college life and to help guarantee initial success.
The Home’s Scholarship program is open to any boy (current or past resident) who has successfully completed the Home’s Residential Care Program, and to boys and girls who are in the process of successfully completing the Independent Living Program.
Scholarship fund:
- Tuition - Partial tuition is funded for standard undergraduate academic programs at public schools.
- Books, Supplies & Fees - The cost of books, supplies and fees are eligible for scholarship funding. Trade schools and apprenticeship programs requiring tools are also included in the scholarship program.
All scholarships are privately funded through the generosity of caring donors. The Home is currently establishing a Scholarship Endowment Fund to guarantee future scholarship funding.
