Residential Care Program
Its heart breaking when a boy cant grow up in his own home. He wants to do well. His family wants him to do well. But, for whatever reason, hes not growing toward the man he can become.
when caring alone isnt enough......In many cases, The Omaha Home for Boys can help.
Treatment on our residential program provides the boys with supervision, structure, and training in life skills. Boys live in group homes supervised by House Parents. This married couple become the primary teachers and counselors of their boys.
The program has helped us fulfill the Homes mission of strengthening youth and families. We invite you to learn more about how it works to make a difference in young lives.
Goals of the Residential Program
- Provide life-skills training to boys in need
- Provide a supportive environment following a Family Home Program model
- Give each youth the opportunity to develop his potential to the fullest
- Provide families with the parenting support needed to help the youth
- Return the youth to his home with the ability to function successfully in society
Support Services
Academic support, computer lab, library, art room
Wellness for Life classes
- Therapeutic counseling services (individual, family, anger-control groups)
- Parenting classes
- Spiritual support (daily prayers, youth attend churches in community)
- Recreation Program
Eugene C. Eppley Recreation Center gym, pool, weight room, tennis court, ball field and racquetball court
Intramural teams
Off-campus activities including fishing, camping, horseback riding, etc.
- Cooper Memorial Farm is the setting for our Valley View 4-H program.
- Transitional Living program
Criteria for Admission
Male, age 10 to 18, of any race, religion, or socioeconomic background
Youths behavior in less-restrictive settings indicates a need for a structured environment
Ability to pay is not a factor for admission
Youth has cognitive abilities to benefit from our program
Youth is able to attend public schools or complete a G.E.D.
Youth Who May Not Be Appropriate
Those in need of 24-hour awake staff supervision. Those with a history of excessive physical aggression. Those with a medical condition requiring acute medical care. Those who are chemically dependent.
Admissions Process
- Contact our Admissions Coordinator
- Complete application form
- Provide requested information, including social history, school information, psychological reports, criminal record, physical examinations
- Tour and interview at The Omaha Home for Boys
- Approval by the Home's Admissions Committee
