The Home Appreciates Your Help

Founded in 1920, The Omaha Home for Boys is a residential group home for at-risk school-aged boys. Policies are set by a volunteer board of directors and put into effect by a full-time professional staff. The Home is funded by contributions, endowments and direct help to carry out our mission of strengthening youth and families. Your contribution as a volunteer truly does make a difference!

Your Commitment

Volunteers at The Omaha Home for Boys may come from all walks of life and backgrounds. They may be young or old. Uniting them is a common desire to help the Home and its mission of strengthening youth and families.

We ask for a commitment of two to 20 hours per month. It may be a short-term or long-term commitment. Some volunteering tasks may involve training or orientation.

How to Get Started

Simply ask The Omaha Home for Boys, "How can I help?" You may call us at (402) 457-7000. Our Volunteer Coordinator will set you up and tell you your next step.

You'll find that the answer grows from your own heart and the fact that you care enough to ask.

Some Who Make a Difference

Cal Reichart, who retired as an employee of the Home in 1985, volunteers in many ways. He has made squirrel feeders, brought ice cream bars for the lawn crew on hot summer days, helped with 4-H gardening projects, and so much more. A special award has been established in his name.

A group of nine airmen from Offutt Air Force Base recently helped our staff blaze a nature trail at Cooper Farm. They simply called and asked how they could help. It was a great way for them to serve the Omaha community, and a great help to us!

The Sewing Ladies are a volunteering legend at the Home. Every Thursday morning, almost since our founding, a group of women has gathered at the Home to mend, patch and repair clothing for the boys.
