The focal point of the 59-acre main campus is a community-based Residential Care Program, letting boys, ages 10 to 18, thrive in a safe, family-style environment. The boys learn skills while living in spacious cottages with House Parents, trained married couples who provide for their needs.
Residential Care builds successful young men by reducing inappropriate behaviors, skill building and providing educational support and a solid spiritual foundation through the behaviorally-based program. Youth attend their “home” schools and stay connected to their community through their teachers and other positive aspects of their home life. Our youth attend about a dozen schools in the Omaha area.
In addition to the residential programs, the Omaha Home for Boys offers community-based programs for young women and men who are “aged out” or about to age out of foster care. Jacobs’ Place is an apartment complex and learning center, providing transitional living, education and job assistance and placement skills to young men and women. Jacobs’ Place is located about two and one-half miles from campus and provides individual transition plans and support annually to about 35 youth ages 17 to 21.
Branching Out is an independent living program. Youth receive services and after-care support to successfully move from dependency to independency and self-sufficiency in the community. More than 250 young women and men, ages 14 to 24, receive services annually.
The Omaha Home for Boys was founded to fill a gap in services to orphaned and homeless boys in 1920. Throughout its history, The Home adapts to the needs of its youth and their families to fill vital services, while collaborating with other providers.
Caring friends and donors support the Omaha Home for Boys. We utilize state payments for some of the children in our care. These payments cover only a small portion of the actual cost of care. Private donations and funds from our endowment allow us provide for individual care and support, and ultimately, success for our children. The Home is a 501 (c) (3) charitable organization; is nationally accredited by the Council on Accreditation of Services for Families and Children (COA); and a member of the Alliance for Children and Families.
Please consider joining the Omaha Home for Boys team and make a difference for children and families who need help.
