Home Happenings
Tai, a
high school junior from the Anderson Cottage, was recognized by the
Miracle Hills Optimist Club of Omaha as The Student of the Month last
June. Tai received the recognition based on his academic performance
and his model citizenship. In addition to his scholastic talents, Tai
is also an accomplished guitarist. Congratulations Tai!
Last
spring 14 boys completed Career Prep &emdash; a new Boys’ Home
educational program facilitated by Independent Living Instructor Dave
James. Career Prep is a school to work preparatory program which
helps prepare the boys for life after high school. Great job boys!

Webber, an Omaha Channel Six newscaster has been job shadowing with
Zach, a 16 year old from the Bruner Cottage. Could there be a TV
personality under wraps here at the Home? Maybe. Thanks Dave and best
of luck to Zach.
May 9
& 10 saw the Second Annual Douglas County Clipping Clinic held at
the Home’s Cooper Farm 4-H facility. Twenty-four youth participated
in the clinic &emdash; boys from the Home as well as other
underprivileged youth in the area. Participants, parents, extension
office personnel and Home staff enjoyed two days of demonstrations on
animal grooming and preparation for the show ring.

May Monroe Middle School held their annual Honors Night. Twelve boys
from the Home were recognized for academic achievement. They were:
